The Helias Class of 1971 held a class reunion on June 8, 2024, but with a twist. “The Helias Class of ’71 Turns 71 Birthday Party” was the theme of the special gathering. There were 144 graduates in the Class of ’71 and 125 of them were born in 1953, meaning the majority of the class turns 71 at some point in 2024.

The event was held at the McClung Park Indoor Pavilion with drinks, a catered chicken dinner and birthday cake. Large poster calendars were displayed, listing each of the Crusader classmates with their birthdates. There were 61 classmates and 35 guests in attendance for a total of 96 party goers. A memorial table was also featured, displaying the graduation photos of 21 classmates who have passed away. Binders with obituary listings for each person were available to read.
The 1971 senior year Crusader Yearbook was digitized and scrolled on a large screen TV for viewing throughout the party.
